Sunset over the Kafue River
The journey
Bigger than Wales. A fraction of the visitors.
At 22,400 km², Kafue is around 15% larger than South Africa’s Kruger — yet it sees a fraction of the visitors. This is a paced drive-and-stay circuit from the central river sector down to the Itezhi-Tezhi Dam and southern woodlands, timed so no single day is rushed and every lodge change earns its distance.
It is the itinerary for travellers who want an authentic road safari — long horizons, good tar and gravel roads and a park that still feels like a discovery.
- Kafue River boat cruise
- Night drives where permitted
- Itezhi-Tezhi sundowner cruise
- Optional walking safari
